The client purchased this home sitting high atop the hill, known as Somerset. The majority of the homes of this neighborhood were originally built in the 1960's and 1970's. Builders of this community chose the location for its sweeping panoramic views. This 1970's home was in desperate need of a complete renovation. Most of the architectural details on the main floor were dated and also a bit dark. There were certainly lovely views to be experienced, but those could only be appreciated by traveling through the house and around corners to see the sights. The client desired not only to update and brighten the home, but to open up the space to focus on the views. The open concept also leant itself to the clients' lifestyle of entertaining and hosting family gatherings. The client researched designers who could envision the space as well, which lead them to choose Studio K B to design their new kitchen, powder and master bath. We are pleased to present this renovation on the NKBA Great Kitchen & Bath Tour for 2014!
